Frequently asked questions

What should I charge?

Rates vary wildly by service, experience, and market. Beat leases start from $15–30 for emerging producers. Mixing runs $75–500 per song. Features range from $100–2000+. The tool doesn’t tell you what to charge. It makes whatever you charge look professional.

Can I update my rate card later?

Yes. Your form data is saved locally so you can return, adjust prices, and generate a new PDF anytime.

Is this just for music producers?

No. Session musicians, vocalists, DJs, engineers, music teachers, songwriters, and anyone offering music services can use it. The service presets cover all these roles.

Should I put exact prices or "contact for pricing"?

Exact prices are stronger. They show confidence and filter out clients who can’t afford you. If your prices truly vary (e.g. DJ sets depend on event size), use "from $X" by selecting the "Fixed" model and writing "from" in the description.

What’s the difference between a rate card and a price list?

A rate card is a marketing document. It communicates who you are, what you offer, and what it costs. A price list is just numbers. The rate card positions you as a professional.

What terms should I include?

At minimum: deposit policy (50% upfront is standard), revision limit (1–2 included), turnaround time, and payment method. The tool provides placeholder text to guide you.
