Smart Music Link
One free link that opens any song on every streaming platform. Search by name, share with anyone, on whichever app they use. No sign-up.
Search any song. Get one free smart link that opens on every streaming platform. Type a song name, pick the right track, share the link. Built as a free Songwhip alternative for musicians sharing their own music and for anyone sharing songs across platforms. No sign-up, no paywall, no upsell. Works whether you and the person you are sending the link to are on Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube Music, Tidal, Amazon Music, Deezer, or anywhere else.
How the smart link generator works
A smart link is the canonical “listen here” URL inside everything from a tour poster to a press release. Before you create one, make sure the rest of your release infrastructure (bio, splits, plan) is in place via the Release Checklist.
Type the name of any song
Start typing in the search box. Results appear from Apple Music's catalog as you type, with album art and release year so you can tell which version is the right one.
Pick the right track
Click the result that matches the song you want to share. The tool resolves cross-platform links in the background through Songlink.
Share the link, it works on every platform
You get one short URL. Anyone who opens it sees the song on whichever streaming platform they prefer, Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube Music, Tidal, Deezer, and more.
Search-first, by design
The painful version of "share a song" looks like this: you are listening on Apple Music, your friend is on Spotify, you copy the Apple URL out of the app, paste it into a converter, paste the converter URL into a chat. Smart Music Link removes the URL middleman. Type the song, share the link, done. It pairs naturally with the Caption Writer: paste the smart link into the caption and you are one tap from a finished post.
Why we built a free Songwhip alternative
Songwhip was a free, account-less universal music link generator. In mid-2024 it was acquired by Sony Music Entertainment through The Orchard. The free public service was discontinued. Independent artists who used it for years lost the tool overnight, with no migration path and no warning. The remaining alternatives all have legitimate gaps: Odesli requires a URL, Linkfire and Feature.fm steer hard toward upsells, HyperFollow is DistroKid-only. Smart Music Link is a free, independent rebuild of the search-first feature.

Frequently asked questions
What happened to Songwhip?
Songwhip was acquired by Sony Music Entertainment in mid-2024 through The Orchard. Soon after, the free public service was sunset and existing free links stopped resolving. Smart Music Link is a free, independent alternative built for the same job.
How is this different from Odesli?
Odesli requires you to paste a music URL. Smart Music Link lets you search by song name, so you do not need to be on Spotify to share a Spotify link. Behind the scenes we use Odesli to fetch the cross-platform mapping, but the search-first experience is the meaningful difference.
Is this really free?
Yes. No sign-up, no account, no paywall. Smart Music Link is part of a free toolkit at bigbadbird.music/tools.
Will my smart link work forever?
Links don't expire. If we ever discontinue the tool we'll publish at least 90 days of advance notice and provide a CSV export of every link you've created from your IP. Drop your smart link straight into a kit generated by the EPK Generator so promoters and curators always click through to a live listening page.
Which platforms are supported?
Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube Music, Amazon Music, Tidal, Deezer, SoundCloud, Bandcamp, Pandora, Anghami, Audiomack, Napster, plus iTunes Store and YouTube Video. The full list depends on availability per track from Songlink.
Can I use this if I am on Apple Music and want to share with someone on Spotify?
Yes. This is exactly what the tool is built for. Search the song by name, share the link, your friend opens it in Spotify and you open it in Apple Music. No copying URLs from one app to another.
How do I share an artist or album?
Search for the artist or album by name. Album results show in the dropdown alongside tracks. You can also paste an album URL from any supported platform. Promoting a full release rather than a single? Run the campaign timeline through the Release Planner and debrief the numbers with the Release Debrief after launch.
How do I track clicks?
Click count tracking ships in the next version. For now, every smart link is a free share-anywhere URL. If you are trying to reverse-engineer whether your release worked, the Stream Reality Check turns your DSP stream counts into a plain-English read.
